WHAT IS THE MRAC?

The Royal Museum for Central Africa (MRAC) is one of the ten federal research institutes in Belgium. As a research institute solely focussing on studying (central) Africa, it occupies an important place on the international scene; as a cultural centre, it is amongst the most visited museums in the country.

A full presentation of the Museum can be found here:

Besides its museum and remarkable collections, MRAC focuses on five research domains, one of which is Geology. Its Department of Earth Sciences has research units that are specialised in different geological subjects:

Responsible for managing the collections of the Department, the geodynamics and mineral resources Unit (http://www.africamuseum.be/research/earth-sciences/general-geology) has developed know-how that it exported to the DRC to enable the creation of a network of databases, accessible to all.
